My Story
By Craig Chomiak
Two months after college graduation and upon return from my first business trip I was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, a common form that affects 70 to 75% of all MS patients.

Being athletic and enjoying the outdoors was too precious to give up so the only option was to slow down the progression of the disease or beat it by eating well, exercising regularly, spending time with valuable friends and family members, associating with a well respected neurologist, and staying mentally strong.

With just over 30 years since diagnosis, the disease has progressed slowly limiting my ability to participate fully in my favorite outdoor athletic activities but adjustments have permitted me to continue to enjoy some of them but at a different level.

Creation of a Walk MS team 30 years ago, which raises funds to support research for breakthrough findings and to support all programs and services offered by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, has and still does give me and my team of closest friends and family fulfillment towards helping those in the world experiencing MS and other chronic autoimmune diseases.

30 years of fundraising by our team has brought in nearly $650,000 to keep the fight against MS alive.
